A Refreshed, Younger Look

BOTOX® is the most popular wrinkle relaxer on the market, and continues to be the top requested choice for patients who want to reclaim a smoother, youthful look. Often the first anti-aging injectable treatment patients try, BOTOX, when injected by an experienced doctor or aesthetic nurse, rids the face of deep lines and wrinkles caused by repeat facial expressions like laughing or frowning. The wonderful team at SD Botox in Austin, Texas, has a consistent track record of great results that look and feel totally natural.

How Does BOTOX Turn Back the Clock?

BOTOX is what’s known as a neuromodulator, which is a family of chemicals that temporarily prevent muscles from contracting by blocking movement signals sent by the nerves to the muscles. BOTOX treats dynamic wrinkles, which are those that occur when you smile, frown, sneeze, or make any other facial expression.

As we age, these repetitive expressions cause dynamic wrinkles to remain visible even when we are not expressing emotion. This can result in not only looking older than you feel, but may also make you look upset or discontent when you are not. By relaxing select muscles, BOTOX can give you a well-rested, open, and friendly look without making you frozen or surprised.

How Do I Know if BOTOX is for Me?

The best way to discern whether BOTOX can help you is to schedule a consultation with one of SDBotox’s Master Injectors. They will carefully listen to your aesthetic goals and insecurities and then perform an examination of your face.

After reviewing your medical history thoroughly, they will be able to determine if BOTOX can help you achieve your aesthetic goals. During your consultation, they will also answer any questions you may have. BOTOX can be safely used to treat the following conditions:

  • Forehead wrinkles
  • Frown lines (brow furrows)
  • Crow’s feet
  • Bunny lines around the nose
  • Gummy smile
  • Hooded eyes
  • Masseter (jaw slimming) and TMJ
  • Chin wrinkles
  • Nefertiti and necklines

What Happens During a BOTOX Session?

BOTOX injections are performed in the comfort of our state-of-the-art clinic. The entire process takes less than 30 minutes, during which our caring team will ensure you are at ease and relaxed. We are happy to apply a topical numbing agent upon request.

Once your provider double checks that you don’t have any questions or concerns, they will inject a predetermined amount of BOTOX into the target areas. You are free to return to work or your regular social activities right after.

Is There a Recovery Process?

BOTOX requires no downtime, though some patients may experience slight redness, swelling, or bruising around the injection site. This is temporary and should disappear in the following days. It is important that patients avoid applying pressure or touching the treatment area for at least 4 hours.

Environments with excessive heat should be avoided, including saunas, hot tubs, and tanning beds. Patients should also avoid direct sun exposure. We recommend always wearing a full-coverage hat and medical-grade sunscreen whenever outside. A good at-home skin care regimen is important to maintain optimal results for as long as possible.

What Results Can I Expect?

At 1-2 weeks, muscles should be relaxed, and your laugh lines, crow’s feet, “elevens,” and bunny lines will be drastically reduced. For some patients, they will be undetectable. After 2 weeks, you will return for a follow-up appointment.

Any additional units can be added at that time. It is recommended patients come in for treatment every 3-4 months in order for dynamic wrinkles to completely disappear over time.
